    Hi Mr Harris

We live on Painter Hill Road and were wondering if the tracks around the horse fences was that of a Bobcat, they are large cat prints found in the snow coming from Jacks Brook behind our field?

Just saw a Bobcat in Harwinton by the lake. It ran across the road and stopped to look at me. It didn’t seem concerned about me at all. I thought it was strange because of the amount of houses around the lake compared to the rest of Harwinton. It was at dusk.

3:45pm 7/25/10 – Saw the same bobcat for the second time in my Backyard. in Middletown (off Atkins). Its a bit alarmig because he walks around right by my young daughter’s playscape. Are they dangerous? Should I call animal control?

I’ve seen two bobcats off my condo deck in Derby just off Route 34 and have heard one of them “calling” at night too. Tammy from Middletown, I wouldn’t worry too much as long as you are out there with her when she is playing. I have a 4 and a 1-year-old and since I became aware of the bobcat presence I told my older daughter she is not allowed out on the deck by herself. They are generally very shy animals though and should be scared away easily if you were to go outside.

Think I saw a Bobcat this morning on my way in to work on East Street in Southington. It was sitting on the edge of the road and as I approached it went into the woods. But I stopped and it stayed looking at me just inside the woods. Not sure if that is what is was because it looked somewhat smaller than those pictured here (but bigger than a house cat), and more grey in color. But it definitely had that stubby little tail with almost a stripped look being darker at the end. Could this have been something else I saw?

January 19th, 2012 at 9:30 am, You did indeed see a bobcat on the 19th, he ended up in my backyard under our deck on the sameday later in the afternoon. He left and I didn’t see him again until Sunday afternoon close to the dusk hour. Early in the afternoon on Monday 1/23/12 he returned to our yard and entered the open space next to us. We did manage this time to get both video (very brief) and pictures of him. We are waiting to see if he returns again in the next couple of days, the habitat around here is exactly what bobcats enjoy…..so who knows
    :) He is just beautiful!

Saw a good sized bobcat in my backyard in Farmington… 7:45am. He walked casually through trees and shrubs, spotted a neighbor’s bird feeder thick with birds and squirrels. He made a sneaky approach and then pounced but came up empty.

Surprised he visited here, We are in a neighborhood of 80 homes on half-acre lots. He had to pass through 20+ yards to get to us.

I saw what at first I thought was a boxer. It was 4:30 am. I was out having a cup of coffee with my 14 lb. cat. She was making her rounds in front of the house when I saw movement, it was about 20 yds. away. It was quite graceful in it’s movement but I also feared that my Orange tabby might be breakfast! I yelled at it but it didn’t miss so much as a beat in it’s cadence. Lovely and terrirfying at the same time.

I saw 3 bobcats in the road in front of my home Bristol. We live on the Bristol/Burlington line. They were slowly but deliberately making there way up the street at around 5:30 in the evening. Got a couple of lame pics on my phone. That is the first time I’ve seen them in this area and I’ve been in this home since 2000. Wow!

There I was driving home to Amston Lake from the Bolton Ice Rink on Rt 316, when a very beautiful Bobcat strolled across the road in front of me!! My first live Bobcat adventure, though seemed smaller than other folks posts. More like small dog sized… This happened at 6:30pm ET just a short distance from RHAM High School complex. I pulled over and put hazards on to get out and take a photo, but by the time I did the Bobcat had disappeared behind those big wild cabbages in the marsh.

I was walking this morning on road to private beach off Rt 1 in Westbrook. Wooded and wetlands on either side.  It appeared that a wildcat crossed my path…slowly, stopping for a few moments before he continued into the woods.  I stopped and a gentleman walking up the road on the other side of the bobcat stopped as well. After this smallish (but,  2-3Xs  the size of  a house cat!) mostly grey in color cat with long whiskers…or something small in his mouth(?) went by,  the other walker & I spoke. Wondering where the adults might be! And, what it was.  He thought coyote, but definitely not.  I’ve seen them before.   A young bobcat?  But grey?

Saw large bobcat yesterday (Oct 5, 2012) near Northridge Drive and Rte 25 in Hawleyville section of Newtown, CT. This is near several other reported sightings off Obtuse Rd, and Currituck RD in Newtown as well as Wisconier Rd in Brookfield. It was spotted while mowing my back yard at 4 PM on a riding mower. Not typical to see these out in the daytime..but in the fall they tend to hunt and move about more during the day than at night. It looked to be about 35 pounds and walked out of heavily vegitated open space and headed across my yard about 100 feet away. It was not particularly concerned about me, but as I turned to get a closer look it wandered slowly back into the brushy cover. I got off the mower to look more closely…to verify it was indeed a bobcat, and we spent about 3 minutes staring at each other from about 50 feet away…before it finally turned and slowly headed deeper into the woods. I got a very clear view and it was indeed a large adult…stocky, muscular, short tail, pointy ears and wide cat face. I have alerted my neighbors to take extra care with their pets and to be cautious with young children near the woods. Beautiful to see, but quite concerning…so close to homes and people.

We have seen Bobcat in our back yard which has a protected area of wooded land. My daughter saw three cubs a short distance from our home crossing the road to go to a samll stream. There have been many such citings by our neighbors. Very nice to see them and not worried at all about the wildlife. Being from upstate Vermont and Quebec we understand that if we don’t disturb them they are not a threat.
